DE Reichsbürger are continental analogues of US SovCits; from the relative timing I'm guessing the former (even if unaware of it) are derivative of the latter.

Someone posted here, and then deleted, that US income tax conspiracy theories (and, in a prior century, gold vs silver debates) are antecedents of the SovCit complex.

There's likely some there there; when I read Pound's apology for (italian OG) Fascism, he sounded in parts amazingly like a modern goldbug.
