I would not trust any advice from Stackoverflow. It'd be like listening to advice from LinkedIn.

I think I understand the reluctance to trust LinkedIn on this (their website is all about getting folks a job, so they have a clear incentive to get you to job hunt (ideally through them) ).

I'm not clear what Stackoverflow's incentive is here?
