I shall toil at a reduced volume

Drew doesn't list his two blog posts about qemu at the end, but those are among my favorites on his blog.

I've always hoped for more, some kind of "qemu cookbook" with magic invocations, since he must have dozens of cool examples, between build.sr.ht, Hare, his RISC V stuff and so on.

My favourite posts from Drew are the following, both taught me so much and it's a sad day that he's going to pull back from writing. He has a way of distilling things to their core that I envy.

I've probably written 10x more than I ever published. The benefits, to me, of the published vs unpublished works are about the same. I could argue that publishing things was net negative, when I'm feeling cynical.

However, just because that writing was only of moderate value, and only to me, doesn't mean it wasn't worthwhile. It may well mean I was right not to publish anymore than I did.

So I say to Drew (and others): Thanks for sharing what you have shared, and do not worry about whether someone else derived value from it. Judge those efforts by what they did for you.
