It says that animal agroculture is very bad.
Counterexamples:
>> These cells need to constantly eat to grow and this require proteins, fats and glucose-these will all come from crops, very often pesticide laden mono crops like peas, soy, corn etc.. which as we all know by now requires massive pesticide related death to grow
>> Now remember these cells will not have an immune system and will be highly susceptible to viral, fungal and bacterial infection and so massive clean rooms will be require with the likelihood of possible virucides , fungicides and antibiotics
>> The other interesting thing is that you can’t go from Petri dish to massive million gallon bioreactor in one step as the cells clumps would fall apart and thus some estimate that more than 100 progressively larger size reactors will be required
>> This means the cell cultures will have to be transferred repeatedly from progressively larger and larger reactors and with each transfer the risk of contamination/infection is present
>> The cell based meats often require a non meat scaffold built out of either a type of nanofiber or sometimes a vegetable based scaffolding in order to hold its shape so it doesn’t turn in to blob of goo
Don't be fooled, this isn't about the environment: it's about making shitload of $$$ from a new type of food since the meat market is massive so if they can steal the meat market by taxing/limiting real meat there will be insane profits in this.
