The difference is that France wants to forbid a symbol of oppression over women, while the middle east wants to forbid expressions of freedom. Take that as you will.

Not sure women who want to wear hijab voluntarily would agree.

Shit, I think I mixed up the comment I wanted to reply to. Was thinking of the Burqa mentioned initially.

Still don't think equating the level of freedom in Qatar to the West is a fair comment.

Same thing applies to the burqa. If women wear it voluntarily, then its their choice and their freedom of expression to do so, there is no oppression.

Same in Tunisia(about burqua and minors) a very muslim country. France is quite integralist in their laicism, but let's not exagerate
