Ask HN: What are some good alternatives to Evernote?

I use Evernote but I am considering switching to another app. I am interested in finding a good note-taking app that works via web and has iOS and Android clients. Has somebody had a great experience with any of the alternatives?

I suggest you take 10mn to check all the features you need on https://www.noteapps.info/features and see what comes out.

It is still no guarantee because you will have to "feel" the app is appropriate for you by experimenting with it for some time.

Wow this is fantastic. Thanks.

Wow, too much information... :) I looked at some of the links folks left in other comments, and those recommendations are quite interesting. Your site is great but has lots of options!...

Thanks they look great.

I've tried Notesnook and I'm happy with it.

I really like the fact that Notesnook and Standard Notes went open source for some of their components.

Notion?

Looks good thanks

Small warning, offline support is terrible. I’m a happy user though but use a combination of Notes and Notion.

Just use iOS notes.

Thanks but I am looking for something available across different devices and in web, and with more possibilities in formatting and attachments. Evernote does this kind of stuff but it’s slow to load, and the sync isn’t the best.

I'm trying Obsidian right now and liking what I see so far.

Google Docs?

It's not exactly the user experience I was looking for, but thanks for the recommendation. I've taken a look and Notesnook and Standard Notes have a very similar feeling to Evernote, and are end-to-end encrypted. Their load speed seems better than Evernote, too. I've also had some sync problems with Evernote that don't seem to happen with these two apps. I also like that these apps are open source to some extent [1] [2].
