What about responsibility for the airline and the regulators and the pilots who allowed a flight over an active war zone?
Handing down life sentences for three people involved but not in the decisions part of shooting in a show trial does not seem like justice.
Several airlines had already rerouted around the area before MH17 was shot down for reasons obvious at the time, there was active fighting and antiaircraft activity and airspace restrictions in place.
It was foolish and irresponsible to be flying anywhere near there at the time.
Some airlines had avoided eastern Ukrainian airspace prior to the MH17 shootdown, while many others, including 62 operators from 32 countries, had continued to fly routes over the region.
Your statement "I mean dudes setting up antiaircraft weapons in random fields ..." gives somewhat incorrect impression.
What is known is that a Buk 9M38 surface to air missile system belonging to the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade was deployed by pro Russian separatists in the Torez area.
>Prosecutors, after the findings of an international investigation, concluded that the four men did not “press the button themselves” but were responsible for taking the BUK from Russia and deploying it on the battlefield.
