As the climate crisis deepens, protest will radicalize. We have seen, cheap, anti-ship drones in the ukraine. It takes no great imagination, to contemplate them used by activists against the steering of oil tankers and pipelines. Carbon fuels by its infrastructure defintions, have a soft underbelly, and one could argue to act in self-defense sabotaging that infrastructure.

Once that factor kicks in, oil is done for, there might even some remain left in the ground.
