Twitter Is Going Great

For all the people who say Elon is out of his depth, remember all the people who said he was out of his depths when making a car company, or trying to go to space. Many fortunes have been lost betting against him. Will he succeed? I have no idea, but I would not bet against him in the long run.
Much of what Musk has gotten himself into with Twitter are in the realm of social problems.
For all his positive qualities, he strikes me as having low emotional intelligence. We’ll see what happens.
I'm pretty sure Elon put more thought into that than his buy twitter impulse.
Note that the price was $50.00 + 420¢ ... and a poll.
He was memeing and gets side eyes from the SEC when he starts talking about stock prices.
Queens define the hive.
Twitter is a much different category where you “only” have to manage people, there is no one stopping his narcissistic personality from doing harm and here is the result. Why do you give him the benefit of doubt? It could have easily been a CEO-swap without any worry from the outside. But he posted controversial shit instantly, made up a ridiculously stupid paid-verification which removed the trust from accounts, fired plenty of its talent base wrongfully! having to rehire many of them at presumably insane costs, while also don’t forget about severance. He is just terribly incompetent at his job, if that is anything more than being an ATM machine.
What even he is doing with Twitter at a time when Volkswagen and the rest of the auto industry is easting Tesla's lunch. Most CEO's are practically invisible, busy managing their company, this man has multiple companies and yet he keeps posting meme pictures all day long.
I am pretty sure all our armchair speculations are pretty pointless and we’ll have to see how it’ll play out over the next months/years
8 dollars won’t save Twitter, and advertisers are pulling out en mass and they won’t come back because it is pretty worthless to pay for ads if they are indistinguishable from the funny joke accounts’ content.
And I know that was just discontinued, but I guess it’s too late.
He recently tweeted "did it 4 da lulz" then deleted it
Tesla and SpaceX are handling the biggest problems of our age. So why is elon wasting his time running this chatter- factory
In my view, Twitter (like all social media) is completely replaceable. There's nothing about it, technology wise, that can't be copied with some infrastructure, some money and a some dev work.
Like all social media, Twitter's golden goose is the user and mind share. If they start losing net accounts or momentum, it's never good news.
Twitter's problems seem to be precisely growing negative user perception.

To take one example, when trans-identifying male Lia Thomas won a women's swimming competition earlier this year, it was a very controversial topic that was much discussed on Twitter, with the gender critical point of view being that men shouldn't be permitted to compete in women's sports, and he was essentially cheating by doing so, due to his physical advantage of being male.
However, if you referred to him as anything other than a woman, or used pronouns other than "she" or "her", this would get your tweet removed and even your account suspended, sometimes permanently. Even though it entirely undermines the argument against his participation.
Not that this is a new phenomenon or only applies to Twitter - gender critical feminists have been warning about this type of linguistic sabotage for quite some years now, e.g. https://fairplayforwomen.com/pronouns
I have a feeling it's just part and parcel of engaging with people who are part of Twitter and care about it. In other words, now that those people are part of our conversations, it's all turned to shite.
As somebody here already said: It's win/win; either Twitter implodes and does the web a service, or it becomes better. I couldn't care less either way, so I'm happy.
Everyone said “it’s a private company that can do whatever it wants” and “free speech needs limits.” Now it’s ruled by someone apparently not actively biased towards leftists (though actually a liberal). And everyone seemingly has soured and claims it’s a bad company now abusing power.
It’s hard for me to see this in any other way than leftists scorned that they can’t arbitrarily abuse their opponents anymore through an important private company.
the policy is about banning anyone who's impersonating someone else. there's a major bot issue with accounts pretending to be others, and people are playing coy about it specifically doing this as a political stunt to show how bugaboo Elon is abusing free speech (an issue they generally only argue in favor of when it affects themselves)
