Why ‘must’ it?

Why would anybody trust the government to "disarm disinformation" when they have historically been the largest purveyors of it?

Maybe if they lead by example, but until then...nope.

Who would you trust instead?

Parties without so much of a vested interest in lying to the public. The government has proven itself to be the least trustworthy of all.

Has it? Who are these parties?
