I don't miss HL7 or FHIR one bit. Would have loved a tool like this back when I was doing EHR work.

It's encouraging to see stuff like this moving into the OS realm, and I genuinely hope this type of competition and collaboration will lead to tangible benefits for patients (cost) and providers (ease of use) alike.

Anything that can be done to reduce developers' direct interaction with any EDI-based workflow -- and I was on the X12 standards committee back in the day -- is god's work, as far as I'm concerned. FHIR and SMART on FHIR are huge leaps forward in usability, but it's still asking a hell of a lot of devs to come up to speed on those standards before they can retrieve or update any data at all.
