Remote working can make you lonely. Very lonely

Get a coworking space membership.

Companies can optimize for this too. At ZeroTier we are trying to hire people mostly two regions so that gatherings are easier, and will cover any reasonable employee request for a coworking membership. (We will hire outside those regions but those areas are where we are focusing outreach first.)

This is maybe an argument for not relocating somewhere that lacks coworking spaces like a very rural area or very small city. Most medium to large metros have them. I am in Cincinnati and there are four or five good ones and they’re even non-WeWork local outfits in cool buildings.

But you can do something about this if you want. When you're at work and everyone is talking all around you, making it impossible to concentrate, it's a lot harder to fix that "togetherness" than to fix temporary remote loneliness.
