My 88 year old mom is using Facebook. It's her main source of entertainment and information besides the Google app. Apart from that she pays 23 EUR / month for pay-TV you can watch 7 days in retrospect. But she always moans that there is nothing worth watching and there's just murder, weapons and killing on TV. And I agree. I watch twitch irl travel streams because that's interesting, the gaming for money however is annoying.

In any case, I finally deleted my Facebook account for good, despite local government only being available there and nowhere else (wtf?).

When I check her FB stream it's a lot, and I mean A LOT of clickbait news-y content, nostalgia and just plain radical disinformation. She constantly bitches about the government leadership, and righly so.

Idk how she can bear it, but when your only alternatives are traditional TV or paywalled magazines, I guess FB looks attractive.

I get into chemtrail and other shady content discussions on a regular basis with her.

It's funny because traditional media like theatlantic (and its main audience) are even more geriatric.
