Lula Narrowly Wins Brazil’s Presidency

Lula politics rescued 11 millions of people from poverty. On the other hand, Bolsonaro's irresponsible behavior, and bath masses, and alienated lies during COVID years is most probably directly responsible for the death of thousands of Brazilians. He has transparently tried to cull as many poor and indigenous as possible.
I'm astonished that so many people had still voted somebody that tried actively to kill them.
We just elected a known corrupt criminal communist to the presidency. A person who openly campaigns for media censorship, demilitarization of police, disarmament of citizens, decriminalization of drugs and other "small crimes". With known ties to criminal organizations including drug trafficking from which he received considerable support. Whose party is the most scandalous in the country.
I'm seriously worried about what's going to happen now.
Some of those things are debatable.
To start, Bolsonaro has been videotaped repeatedly trying to silence, harass and insult journalists and to censor scientifically proven facts, so as "captain of the free speech", is definitely a very poor example
I can't speak for the reality of the country, but some Bolsonaro followers had been videotaped harassing and even killing random people with fireweapons in public space. Removing this people the access to weapons feels the correct option (and putting them in jail is urgently needed). Bolsonaro would have happily lead the country to a civil war after ecological disaster.
Could you list some things that are better in Brazil after Bolsonaro and are fully attributable to him? (were not happening yet with Lula)
I have videos of Lula followers doing similar stuff too. I have videos of drug traffickers executing Bolsonaro supporters and campaigners in their territories and celebrating Lula's victory with assault rifle gunfire. I have videos of PT supporters invading private property and sacking a store.
This looks pretty bad for both sides to be honest.
> Could you list some things that are better in Brazil after Bolsonaro and are fully attributable to him?
I don't even support this guy, I voted for someone else in the first round of elections. I just can't believe this country put Lula back in power.
Time to remain very sceptical to the mass media, keep cold and care for yourself. I hope all will be okay.

Agreed, I'll be focusing on myself for now. I hope we'll all be okay.
And Lula isn't? He claimed he was innocent, absolved of any wrongdoing. The actual judges involved in his corruption case publicly corrected him on that point and then they were censored by the TSE.
You're happy to see Bolsonaro go? I'm sad to see this criminal being ushered in.
Don't reply to me again.
Lula is a breath of relief after four years under Bolsonaro insane, perverse term. I’m Brazilian, voted for Lula, and I’m really happy for his victory. Bolsonaro was a tragedy — 30 million Brazilians went back to starving under his disastrous government after we eradicated hunger in mid-2010. With Lula, hope is back in Brazil!
Important to note that some consider the leftist Supreme Federal Court to be the corrupt one in this instance. They literally banned social media speech that claimed Lula is corrupt.
Bullshit.
> He was convicted by a corrupted federal judge, as our Supreme Court decided.
He was convicted multiple times by multiple judges at multiple levels of the brazilian justice system. He was convicted when he was tried. He was convicted when he appealed. Only when the case reached the supreme court did they let him walk on a bullshit jurisdiction technicality, pending a new trial which will probably never happen now that he's back in power.

> Lula was found guilty by the lower court of accepting R$3.7 million in bribes ($1.2 million US) in the form of improvements to his beachfront house
> On 25 January 2018, the Appeal Court of Porto Alegre found Lula guilty of corruption and money laundering and increased his sentence to 12 years of prison
> On 23 March 2021, the Supreme Federal Court ruled by a 3–2 decision that Moro, who had overseen Lula's trial in a case, was biased against him.
I don't give a shit what you think about Bolsonaro but don't tell me this guy is innocent. I don't believe that for a second.
If one day Lula got a fair judgment and end up convicted, you may say he's isn't innocent. Until them, he is.
Brazil has two communist parties, they both critique Lula from the left.
I have videos of him openly saying his long term plan is the installation of socialism in Brazil. How could he not be a communist?
> Brazil has two communist parties
And today Lula appointed a minister from one of those communist parties.
> Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva won election as Brazil’s president in a dramatic comeback for the left-wing politician who was languishing in a jail cell just three years ago on corruption charges.
