I like this take on SAFe. Steve Denning has great talks about what agile is, and what it is not.

The SAFe training is predominantly a bunch of pointless games, marketing, and baseless claims. Leaving all that aside, it's just fake agile.

It’s agile for companies that absolutely do not want to adopt agile but want to be able to tell their (prospective) employees that they have.

That is a nice way to describe it.

SAFe puts a bunch of layers between you and the customer.

Agile is about removing layers between you and the customer.

Are employees looking for "agile" companies? Seems more like a red flag for micromanagement nowadays.

My personal experience is that, while you’re absolutely right for startups, large multinationals and companies that don’t see themselves as necessarily tech-first still use it as a selling point.

I don’t know if it is effective to do so or not, but I do see it highlighted on job ads/recruiting landing pages.

Better to be micromanaged by 1 person than 10.
