Departed Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey Is Launching a New Social Network

It seems like he wants to make a second fediverse, but what is the point? Why not build upon the fediverse as it exists right now?

Maybe "we want to do what this existing technology does, but improve it a little" sounds much worse than "a revolutionary, decentralized approach to social media, allowing users to be part of an interconnected web of small configureable instances".

IMO the key is portability. If given enough incentives (users pressure) how can existing networks port or connect to this federated space? Otherwise it’ll still be Bluesky only.
