Note the insane dichotomoty of

> Mr. Musk has set some ambitious goals for Twitter, which he has said he will transform into an “everything app” called X. In presentations to investors about the deal this spring, he said he anticipated that Twitter would reach annual revenue of $26.4 billion and have 931 million users by 2028. The company reported $5.08 billion in revenue last year and had more than 200 million users.

> Mr. Musk has suggested that cuts could be necessary to limit Twitter’s costs

No words were omitted in my one quote. Laying off 3/4 of the workforce immediately followed adding tons of functionality and having 5x the revenue and 4x the users.

A ship operating at its maximum deadweight won't perform well on a beam reach. Time to lighten the load.

If he had talked about high turnover to bring in employees with a different focus (although most of the staff should be easy enough to refocus, like programmers) I would understand. But he talked about doing it explicitly to save money.

Step 1: fire leadership. Step 2: cut the fat which results in money saved. Step 3: hire fresh talent while recreating the corporate culture.

Pretty standard honestly.

How sad, all those people are going to lose their jobs. What a waste.

At least it'll help with inflation.

Who exactly did he terminate beyond Agrawal?

CFO and general counsel
