Ask HN: Way to use iPhone “Live Listen” without AirPods?

I recently learned about this feature and it’s kind of ridiculous that it isn’t compatible with anything that’s not their hardware or Beats. Surely transmitting from the microphone to an arbitrary bluetooth headset should be possible?

That’s good to know! I was hoping to play with this feature with just a headset or earbuds that aren’t considered to be hearing aids. I’m actually surprised that AirPods have been deemed to be hearing aids.
