Saw the big, hard to exit pop-up and clicked away :-(

It's annoying, but to be fair, there's a pretty visible 'let me read it first' button. Not so bad.

Firefox Reader View came in handy here; I actually prefer its formatting too.

    substack.com##body:style(overflow-y: auto !important)
    substack.com##.subscribe-dialog-above-the-fold
    substack.com##.subscribe-dialog-sticky-modal
    substack.com##.subscribe-dialog-sticky-modal-scroll-capture
    substack.com##.intro-popup
    substack.com##+js(aeld, /scroll/)
    substack.com##+js(rc, show-intro-popup|has-intro-popup, html, stay)

Done.

I've dabbled with Inform 6 and 7 on and off over the years and I had no idea that the latter produced z-machine games that were slower to run on limited hardware than the former! why is that? I thought that the syntactic differences between the Inform versions was purely on the authorship side, and that the z-machine output was more or less the same?

Are you sure that you were comparing z-machine outputs in both cases? Inform 7 can output z-machine code, but is geared mostly to produce Glulx (another virtual machine with fewer limitations, but slower) output.

interesting, I thought it defaulted to z-machine for some reason; it's been awhile

It starts by describing a 2018 game “Hibernated”, and likens it to Infocom games, but neglects to mention that the description of “Hibernated” is very similar to the classic Infocom game “Suspended” from 1983.

This game?

If so, we have different definitions of "very similar". I'd call that a vague resemblance.

Yes, that one:

Well, I have not played either game, so I can only go by how they were described. The box art was also similar.

It has an FPGA, anyone manage to get it running a RISC-V core?
