The "dark yellow" here looks greenish/brown only because it is shown against a white background. Against a black background it is a perfectly acceptable yellow.
And this is why UI design standards are 1) so important, and 2) must include exhaustive examples of how UI elements should and should not be used in every context that it's possible for them to occur.
