Not even to be blown up by the military?

"Man learns mom's body donated for research was instead blown up in military testing"

I remembered Reuters doing an expose on this about five years ago so I couldn't empathize at all with the opening of this Vice article.

This might actually be a better article. Shows some examples of how the bodies are set up to be blown up:

Wonder how many people would sign their bodies up for military testing if they made the distinction.

Do they ask people already in the military if they want to donate their bodies for military testing?

I would because I want my atoms scattered, not interred in a hole or a jar
