Greece runs on renewables for the first time in its history

It was for 5 hours.
> Renewables made up 46% of Greece’s power mix in the eight months to August this year, according to Greek climate think-tank The Green Tank, which was up from 42% in the same period in 2021.
In my opinion this is the greatest news. In a period of high demand they can still do 46% on renewables.
> The country is targeting 25GW of installed renewables capacity by 2030, up from around 10GW today.
With such an update they can be almost self suficient.
There's plenty of demand across Europe for energy, so that's still a great thing, but they need those decent interconnects (and/or storage, or industry that can work with varying supply -- e.g generate green hydrogen when renewables are at excess, don't generate when there's lower demand)
Glad to see Greece gets it. Would be great to see a lot more countries being added to the list, of running on just renewables, even for a day.
so tax money, back to the taxpayers, so they can give it to the energy cartels.
This is achieved while in lots of areas locals deny building of any sort of clean energy source, claiming it will mess up the natural beauty of the scenery, will mess up birds, etc.
Greece could have a lot more renewables if it wasn't for the idiotic 'resistance' of its residents.
Greece extends thousands of years before non-renewables!
