Ask HN: How are you, a dev/programmer, preparing for climate change?
How are you preparing mentally, financially and otherwise? How are you dealing with the anxiety of ever increasing news about the likely negative events?
As a dev/programmer with a dev/programmer's salary (in the US) one can downsize his expenses and save quite a lot of money, invest in a house in a place which is not expected to be extremely affected any time soon, and weatherize the house (e.g. install good insulation, solar panels, reinforce it against strong winds, arrange it so it has good air circulation for cooling, and so on).
The "apocalyptic" kind of preparations are BS imho, first because there's no sudden movie-like collapse, climate change is a long process, and society will adapt in several ways. Plus, if it comes to that, the cans in the bunker wont save you (and a post-apocalyptic environment aint gonna be any life worth living anyway).
