Folic Acid is generally underrated as a supplement. There are myriad benefits with weak effects including of course benefits in pregnancy, heart disease and stroke and cognitive effects. The downside is high doses (10-100x RDA) produce cancer adverse outcomes. This also seems to be true of B-12.
I wish there was more effort in nutrition science devoted to B-12 and B-9 (folic acid) instead of Vit-D.
This type of article makes me want to re-do some vitamin deficiency panels. I know I never get nearly enough vitamin D so I supplement that. But what the heck else am I low on?
Just make sure you're not genetically bad at Folic Acid in which case you want Methyl-Folate instead.
Additionally if you have Kidney disease you should take the Methyl-folate form because the generally available form of folic acid breaks down to cyanide as a byproduct.
Does folic acid react with stuff in antiperspirants to make it unavailable to the body?
