Usually the worker portion comes from either TAing or RAing. In these cases you would most definitely be a worker.

Yes you do (by default), same as any other worker. At least that's what it said on my tax forms and pay stubs.

Wrong again. I was classed as ordinary employee and had SS deductions just like any other job I've had.

Ok well that was definitely not the case for my TA stipend.
