What I see often is that developers would spend way more time building/changing their blogging generator than actually writing posts.
That is my impression as well. Which is fine, don’t get me wrong. Nothing wrong with testing new tools and setups. I just don’t personally see the point of creating something overly complex for a blog.
I think that there may be some relationship between what you’re describing and the quality of the blog posts that do actually get written.
