Zooming is a bit hit-and-miss (works great in Firefox, not at all in Edge). But I just tried it with a screen reader and that experience is great: every image has alt tags, the link to the transcript is about the fourth element, and the transcript is beautiful semantic HTML that the screen reader can easily makes sense of.

Jokes aside, yes it is a nightmare. However, you can find a transcript at the bottom of the page, which makes it a little more readable.
