Stadia employees learned of shutdown just minutes before public

Would anyone realistically expect a publicly traded company to give employees advance notice? In the age of near instant leaks to the press, I wouldn’t if I were in a senior management position. The folks working at Stadia should have seen the writing on the wall. Google has a track record of killing products and it was evident they were winding down Stadia months ago.

I am surprised it wasn't leaked within a minute after the employees were informed.

That’s horrible to do to people. Imagine being the Stadia employees who lied to developers while management knew for months that they were shutting it down. My respect for Google continues to plummet.

At the same time it is clear that pretty much everyone knew the writing was on the wall even shortly after the launch. No one should have been surprised by this.
