How soon should you have a design system?

Hello, I’m Michael, I work at Lago (YC S21). We did not listen to YC’s advice (do things that don’t scale) and built a design system from day one. It was one of our best decisions, and even help pivoting.

I often get questions about it, so I’ve laid down the backstory here: https://www.getlago.com/blog/how-soon-should-you-have-a-desi...

I’m also curious to hear about other companies: how early did the design system come along? When did you hire your first designer (part time or full time)?
