Seems to say less about the generation and more about what age the generation currently is. Younger people are of course going to spend less on healthcare and more on alcohol, for instance. If you went back in time to when Millenials/GenXers were young, they'd probably have a more similar spending profile to what Gen Z has here.

Agreed. Needs to be normalized by age to be informative.

I would suspect previous generations did not spend nearly as much on entertainment-based subscription services.

I also wonder how this varies for adults who live alone vs. with someone such as a spouse, I would expect average individual cost of housing to be quite different. And what about those who are supporting children or other dependents? How is that shown?accounted for? Is it simply rolled in as an average number of dependents per adult?

The numbers are for average household spending by the age of the reference person. They are obviously far too high for individual spending.

For example, the average Generation X household consists of 3.0 people, including 0.8 children and 0.1 adults of age 65 or older. There are 1.7 earners in the household.

Gen Z still qualifies for their Gen X parents healthcare … until they turn 26. My 1998 born grad student daughter for instance still will be on my Gen X healthcare I pay for until her 2024 birthday of 26yo. Probably why Gen X pays the most for healthcare.
