Ripe's official position [1] is:

> The RIPE NCC will at all times comply fully with EU sanctions.

I don't know enough about the process, but I think this happened in error and will be reversed?

Looking at the records via command line

   whois -h whois.ripe.net 5.153.128.0

It shows it assigned to timernet.ru and record was last updated on 2022-08-04T05:37:14Z. That was almost two months ago, that's a long time for an error to persist.

EDIT: Reading some more of the Twitter threads and some other documents on the RIPE website, it seems this is normal practice as far as RIPE considers it, unless timernet.ru were an EU sanctioned entity.
