Interesting. Any idea if there are existing file converters for Atmos (etc) to Ambisonics?

For example, lets say I have some-atmos-movie.mkv on my local computer, that I'd like to play back through my 7.1 speakers (attached to computer).

In my head, I'm thinking:

1. Needs to be converted to Ambisonics format

2. Player software (eg vlc) needs to understand the resulting format, and send an appropriate bitstream to each output device

Guessing it's not that simple?
