47M. Have been having nightmares about the last year of highschool for about 20 years. TIL other people do too. I think its due to the anxiety felt at that time without the adult ability to recognise that anxiety.
This was 1992 in New Zealand. You did 5 subjects (some did 6). At the end of the year you did a 3 hour exam and the percentages were scaled at the national level and added up. 300 was an 'A', 250 was a 'B' and 150 was a 'C'. Anything less and you didnt pass high school although everyone can still graduate and leave, some just did another year.
So, I'm walking around school. I dont know what class I should be in, I've completely missed subjects all year. I dont know when the exams are and I dont have text books.
In reality I passed all 5, total 351 and over %80 for calculus needed for Math 104.
Fast forward 4 years to honours math at uni and all my worst fears are true. Went to uni at midnight to see the results board honestly not knowing if I got honours (I'd still have a B.Sc). Passed, B.A.Hons 2nd class.
I'm 37 and I still have dreams that I forgot to attend a class all semester and I'm about to fail to graduate high school. It's always English that I forgot to attend....
I’m 41 and Ieft school at the age of 18 in 1999.
I don’t dream about it, ever (but then again, I remember almost none of my dreams), but I do think of it and my classmates all the time.
I've always felt it was due to being traumatized.
I still have dreams about school but also nitemares about my worst job.
This is it — traumatization is more prevalent than generally accepted, and and children are especially vulnerable. While not everyone develops full-blown C-PTSD, the amount and intensity of traumatic experiences in relation to the amount of emotional support in a safe environment gives a rough estimate of how likely one is to develop some kind of emotional, personality or psychiatric disorder due to the sum of their traumas.
I dream about going to graduate school one day, but im 30 now. I would do all years in my underwear if they accepted me on that condition.
