Ask HN: Relevant info as Job Seeker?

2 pointsrrmdp6 comments

Hi everyone,

I'm building Job Board Seach, which is an aggregator of job boards (300+)

Recently added a meta feature, in order to list job offers with in each job board in the list, and job seekers are loving it.

I've been working on it's UX/UI in order to show relevant info to job seekers, so far added:

• Salary range • Remote • Job Type (i.e. Full-time) • Location • When posted

So the question is: What other info do you need in order to make the job search jouney easier?

If you would like to see it yourself how is it looking here the URL that only shows job boards with job offers https://jobboardsearch.com/with-jobs-listing

Thanks so much!

PS: I'am building it in public, so if you would like to see how it is evolving https://twitter.com/rrmdp

Something about the type of selective process.

For the current screening process of many companies these days, you can see challenges that take little time but quite intense in terms of where are they hard: algorithm heavy, structure heavy, systems heavy, framework familiarity heavy, language familiarity heavy (as opposed to a more general CS skill). Some give you a timed challenge, some don't. For some they don't give you a timed challenge but solving it can take a lot of time for just getting ghosted without any kind of feedback. Job seekers needs to see where is the wisest way to invest their most valuable and forever consumed limited asset: time.

Interesting, good point, thanks a lot!

Only very few job boards offers this info in their APIs

How do you know about this, have you been doing interviews recently?

Tech stack versus what a company's looking for in an interviewee.

For instance:

- On our frontend we use: React, TypeScript, NextJS, and React Native

- Feel free to apply if you have experience with: Angular, Vue, or other frontend frameworks

Nice! Thanks for the feedback, it's really helpful :)

Where do you get this idea from, are you a recruiter?

I'm not a recruiter, but I was interviewing recently and I liked it when postings/recruiters expressed the fact that "Experience in X is a must", "We're language-agnostic but use JS frameworks", etc.

Verbiage like "Backend: Python, Kotlin, Java, Rails", etc was misleading because I couldn't tell what exactly they used in their day to day.

Thanks for getting back to reply. You have no idea how helpful this kind of comments are, as are real life experiences :)
