I was taught how to read and write in cursive at school, and it was mandated that all non-math assignments were written in cursive from 3rd through 6th grades. I hate writing in cursive and have always found it slower and more cumbersome that block letters, and as a result, I haven't done it since other than for a select few things such as my signature.
