Business and capital are about connections. If the idea requires high startup costs then that is a moat unto itself.

If the idea is truly, really, honestly so amazing that anyone who heard the idea could beat you, then it sounds like the idea combined with your unique situation (skills + connections + prototype) isn't that great. Otherwise, what's stopping someone else from beating you?
