Twitter Trackers Jeopardize Military Aircraft

Military and law enforcement can disable their ADS-B any time. As for visual tracking, that has been going on for a very long time by enthusiasts and paranoid folks. Blocking that on twitter would just move it one any of of a myriad of platforms thus removing visibility from the government as in who is watching who. There are amateur websites devoted to this topic. Instead of trying to legislate this consider turning off ADS-B and permitting the manual tracking on Twitter and just finding better flight paths accepting I just over-simplified the situation.

As for the times when ADS-B is desired my preferred solution would be to create 3 bands and classes of devices:

- Military/Law-Enforcement New encrypted spread spectrum equipment but also detect Commercial and Drones.

- Commercial / General Aviation aircraft. Existing equipment and RF frequencies but update newer models to also detect the drone band.

- Drones. New unencrypted equipment in their own band and permit the same TX power as Commercial so planes have a chance to see the drones. Drones should also receive GA bands and use auto-avoidance to stay clear.

The fact that this sort of tracking is at all possible is what makes the internet so awesome…
