In hindsight, 2013 would have been the perfect time for Yahoo to have been sold for parts. Perhaps a more business-minded executive would have recognized that.
There are blogs and blogs about logos from successful well known brands, on how well they are designed, their process, their history, their typography etc but no one gives a rats ass about logos from mom and pop shops or your average small business even if they were designed really well. designers really need to stop this hypocrisy.
The only difference between a Fiverr designed branding and something that's designed by an agency is that the agency is able to make up a justification on why a logo costs a $100k.
a senior well accomplished designer had once told me, the logo does not make the business or a brand, the business is what makes a logo.
Nike will still sell the same number of shoes without the swoosh and Apple will probably sell the same number with a different logo.
We as Brand/Logo designers really need to humble ourselves and really listen to our customers, help their business, try to summarize their vision with appropriate branding/logo but stop defining the business for them.
It tried to pretend that you can't do in one week end something equivalent to what takes him months and cost millions.
But, for example, a big part of the delay with the agency is for it to understand what you want and do round trips to propose you slight modifications like a little bit more rounded corners and co.
If you do it on yourself it can goes a lot way faster.
Maybe the only thing that sets them apart is that the CEO didn't change the corporate logo at the slightest craving for attention.
If you want to do anything with logos, branding etc, you need to pay a brand design professional to do it, ok?
Jeez, what next, a CEO without an MBA?
