Ask HN: Software to make you blink more automatically to reduce dry eye?

By this, I don’t mean a “blink now” message.

Rather, is there a way to force the user to blink without knowing it?

For example, would inverting colors for a fraction of a second cause people to blink?

Can't help you with a software suggestion, but if you already don't, practice the 20-20-20 rule:

  Look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.

It's the standard approach for CVS [0] treatment

External factors that trigger blinking are generally irritants and perceived dangers. You might find something to trigger blinking, but it would probably be one of those things, which would make your computer insanely user un-friendly.
