NASA to crash $330M spacecraft into asteroid to see if impact can alter course

If the spacecraft's momentum isn't a goodly proportion of the asteroid's momentum it'll be a waste of time doing that practical experiment. (A fox terrier colliding with a charging rhino would be a reasonable analogy. It wouldn't even muss the rhino's hair.)
