Gross. I absolutely think ml is vastly immature re-parroting without attribution or sense, it's means capable of great mis-use towards countless ill ends. But what a vile authoritarian pearl clutching response, what a fear-based anti-humanity pessimistic way to try to hide & dodge, to insist the models be restrained within thr corporate firewall.

This pretention that we should build vast systems but then hide them & carefully restrict eho can explore & use them... it's unjustifiable, it doesnt permit the good to get out.

Most of the giants we built could be used in nefarious ways. It doesn't mean we should bury them underground, only letting the chosen few marvel and dabble with fire.

I find the holier-than-thou attitude from some in the ML community frankly a bit sad. Sure, some may misuse the models, but an equal or dare I say, a greater number of people will find joy. Some may even, perhaps, build another giant.
