Something I think that, at some size, the only thing you really need to monitor is the number of visits to your status page.
It says all systems operational but I'm getting "No server is currently available to service your request. Sorry about that. Please try refreshing and contact us if the problem persists." on any page...

They are paid very well, if they don’t look at it as part of the job then the company has bigger problems
... before a long weekend, no less.
... which is why my job on Fridays, especially before long weekends, is to say "no" and work on toy projects. :-)
