We built a premium second hand price comparison site

Hey! A bunch of friends and me got together to build this second hand price comparison site. What do you think? We felt that when we're buying second hand ourselves, that we always end up at the usual sites and move around 10 tabs of the same product. So we thought, why not solve it by collecting all retailers? We've just added the first couple of retailers, but are aiming to add as many as possible over the coming months to save time for consumers.

Curious to hear your thoughts? What do you think of the ux? Does it make sense?

Good first impressions. I like the category/brand search. I clicked on one link which opened another tab, which wouldn’t allow me to return to the site (which was ok because it was in the other tab - I generally detest this behaviour, but it may just be the retailer I clicked). I would say the business model isn’t immediately clear. Maybe an infographic could help? I think an about us page could help, but alas I doubt I represent the average users behaviour.

Have you thought about having some sort of cart functionality? I fully understand this does not align with what you’re looking for, but wondering if you could make your conversion funnel stickier by some sort of cart process. I’m just slinging ideas out here, they don’t have to be good.

We’ve thought a long time about the tab thing you mention, on the other hand you can’t click back but also if we don’t open a new tab you would leave our site completely. We definitely need to iterate this more…

Interesting thought about the add to cart functionality, I would say as our business model is based on affiliate marketing maybe an wish list could make more sense in this case? Like the thoughts of making the funnel more stickier

Today our business model is based on affiliate revenues but we don’t really see that as an issue since our core target audience/group is not a big user of extensions such as uBlock. But thanks for the heads up! Important for us to be aware of this in the future.

I was hoping for a Craig’s list price tracking tool :(

Unfortunately Craig’s list is not on our radar since we focus on the “verified” assortment from online second hand retailers. With that said, how would you want a price tracking tool for second hand look like? Maybe that’s a feature we could build out in the future

Well when you look at the 2nd hand market you will find that it’s bifurcated. You have shit that sells and shit that hangs out forever. Most platforms make it hard to track things that are selling quickly because they disappear out of the listings so data on stuff that has sold is really where all the important info is.

Since you are focusing on luxury goods take StockX or goat and try to map how long goods sit at certain price points as they dip down.

Also I think maybe you need some way for users to enter in the product they want to track. As opposed to you having to find all the luxury goods out there.

Agree with you, it’s a big difference from what sells and what not. That’s also part of the vision to be able to monitor certain products/searches so I think it’s interesting to see you mentioning it. Will probably need to implement free/text search in our product to get it working really powerful. We’ve definitely looked at working together with Goat and Stock so hopefully we can integrate them soon. Thanks for the valuable feedback :)
