The asterisk shows that Finnish is in category 4.5. That's harder than Russian!
Curious that Icelandic should be category 4--I don't know it all, but what I have seen of it looks to me a good deal like Old English or Anglo-Saxon, call it what you will.
Icelandic and English are cousins, but the former has retained a fairly extensive inflectional system that requires a lot of memorization to learn.
Huh, I guess I didn’t make it easy for myself by trying to learn only category 4-5 languages.
This list is ridiculous, Japanese is nowhere that hard to learn.
