"Quiet quitting“: A revolution in how we work or the end of working hard?

People are lowering their aspirations because being ambitious risks failure and we have educated a society of perfectionists unable to cope with the mere thought of failure, let alone risking it in practice. Europe has been quiet quitting the economic game for centuries. We are all hoping that the people that didn't go to College keep digging useful things out of the ground so we can keep burning it to keep the illusion of progress going a bit longer. These people probably spend their evenings watching Netflix. Any self motivated artist worth their salt is already doing that.

From a central European point: Many people I know are in relationships where both partners work, good jobs in e.g. engineering, and still cannot afford housing (other than a shoebox) where they live. Also, more educated people usually cannot find work in every random village, requiring a daily commute of both partners (before WFH).

So many people I know just ask themselves why they should hustle if they cannot live in their own place anyway. They just see things differently and enjoy themselves.

Working hard during the work day is fine, nobody is failing to do that. They just say no to all the off-hours effort that business tries to extract for free.

Back when I was working for minimum wage, we just called this working...

How is this news? This is very likely apropos of any time period in human existence. Some percent of the population is going to feel under appreciated and some percent just plain DGAFOS

This sounds like you're putting in healthy life and work boundaries. That just seems normal, right?

This doesn't sound revolutionary at all...

Don't fall for this PR, lets call it inflation adjusted work.
