Such thinking is immediately absurd yet I can’t deny that it has existed in the past and still does to some (hopefully small) extant. It just seems like a convoluted straw man in the end. I agree that the West, and the US in particular, has done a lot of harm to other peoples and nations, and speaking as an American we need to do better.
