Seems like an overreaction. There's nothing wrong with the cars, it seems the key issue is that the FSD feature needs to be renamed and people need to not be trusting it to handle braking on their behalf. Or disable it entirely over the air until it is fixed to an acceptable standard.
I guess the Chevrolet Corvair is not so distant in human memory that the guy who made news dunking on it can still make a headline.
