Most aren't, we basically figured out a fair bit of security in the 90s (barring increasing of computational power, which really has just required increasing the number of bits). It's almost always been implementation problems.
Bad ideas can be replaced with better concepts. Implementation flaws can be patched.
But the biggest problem is still the human factor aka "you can't patch stupidity".
I guess that's why the title or article never mentions the word "hack".
