We had major problems with integrating grpc into electron and browser extensions so making something like grpc work on the web is essential. However for a decentralised application, expecting users to deploy a separate proxy is unacceptable. So we were planning to switch back to json RPC and build our own streaming system based off vscode's json RPC.

Does this new connect protocol expect to support all streaming mechanisms client streaming, server streaming and bidirectional?
