Why aren't they using stdbool if they use stdint? 8-bit bool typedef can cause surprising issues.

Also this is blatantly wrong. Char can't represent a character in UTF8. Just use uint8_t if you mean a 8-bit byte representation.

Minor nitpicks, but looks cool I guess.
